Kristen lost an incredible 52 kilograms after tipping the scales at 120 kilograms in 2014. The doting mother-of-four, who lost the weight over a period of just 10 months, was left with ‘sagging’ skin that she felt aged her prematurely. So when the opportunity came up to fly to Thailand to have a Facelift and Breast Augmentation, she jumped at the opportunity.
Kristen decided to get Gastric Sleeve Surgery to assist with her weight loss but after shedding the weight, was left with what she described as ‘saggy, drooping skin’. “I got to 40 and I had tried everything and hadn’t lost a kilo. I had a family with two sons and two step sons who loved to eat and I was eating portions that were far too large,” Mrs Tatham told Daily Mail Australia.
“I wasn’t eating junk but the amount I was eating meant I was pre-diabetic, I had heart problems, back pain and indigestion. My skin wasn’t catching up to my body and while I was prepared for excess skin on my body I never thought it would sag on my face. People were saying I looked sick. My skin hung and I looked old and I just felt so non-rewarded for all the weight I had lost and was really down on myself.” Kristen’s breasts had ‘shrunk’ as well and she was feeling uncomfortable with her body overall – especially around her husband. “I felt like I was 80 all of a sudden,” she said.
Kristen had been looking into Cosmetic Surgery options and came across CosMediTour who were looking for patients for the show Operation Thailand. Kristen decided to apply. “There was no way I could afford to do anything in Australia as it was far too expensive. My son has severe epilepsy as well so I couldn’t afford the time or the money,” she said.
Kristen said while the idea of surgery was ‘terrifying’, the staff were lovely and made her feel assured that everything would be okay. She underwent a mid and lower face lift, chin sculpting, a brow lift and a Breast Augmentation – the entire surgery costing approximately AUD $16,000. It all went well, and after recovering, said she felt 10 years younger. “The results from my surgery are beyond my expectations. I truly feel different as a person,” she said. “I feel like I’ve been on a bit of a journey. I really felt like I was in my 50s and now I really do feel like a 40 year old.
‘When I look in the mirror I love what I see now. I’m more confident and I feel a hell of a lot better of who I am as a person, so it’s just really empowering!’
