What To Pack for Surgery in Thailand

According to what suits your needs, please see the CosMediTour suggested packing checklist below as a handy guide to get you started. Keep in mind, try to pack as lightly as possible:

Necessary Items

  • Passport
  • CosMediTour Client Travel Folio (electronic or paper)
  • Copy of travel insurance documents (electronic or paper). Please note, this will have all contact details in the event you have to use the insurance.
  • Clothing – comfy light clothes (and shoes) that are easy to take off and wash
  • Toiletries – try and avoid large bulk containers (shampoo & conditioners), small travel sizes, toothpaste & brush, deodorant, soap, moisturiser, Antibacterial body/face wash, lip balm, sunscreen, hair ties, wet wipes, insect repellent
  • Overseas power point adapter¬†(Australia to Thailand)
  • Mobile phone/iPad and chargers (extra long cords are helpful)
  • Currency: Thai baht (approx. 2000 THB to get you started)
  • Credit card/debit card or foreign currency card
  • Questions to ask your Surgeon at your pre surgery consultation

Handy Items

  • Post surgery support garment – purchase your garment prior to departure to ensure there are no sizing issues.¬† The hospital may or may not be able to supply you with a garment at an additional cost
  • Sun hat
  • Sunglasses
  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Thongs/ jandals
  • Slippers or thick comfy socks
  • Loose breathable clothing
  • Dressing gown/ robe (for the hospital stay)
  • Warm button up front cardigan/ jumper
  • Swimsuit – please note swimming is not recommended post surgery, but you may bring a swimsuit to laze on the sun lounges – in the shade.
  • Pen & notepad/notebook
  • Insect repellent
  • Wet wipes
  • Hand sanitiser
  • Lip balm
  • Toothbrush + toothpaste
  • Deodorant
  • Antibacterial body wash
  • Sunscreen
  • Moisturiser
  • Hair ties
  • Zip lock bags

Small overnight bag for Hospital (for Phuket only) including your:

  • Passport
  • Money
  • Mobile phone/iPad chargers
  • Toiletries – toothpaste and toothbrush, deodorant, soap, moisturiser, antibacterial body/face wash, lip balm, hair ties, wet wipe
  • Clean change of comfy clothes and underwear (easy to get on and off)
  • Post surgery garment
  • Entertainment: book, magazine, iPad or laptop for movies

Luxury Items

  • Power board ¬†
  • Bum bag or travel wallet
  • Plane travel pillow/neck pillow
  • Small umbrella
  • Eye mask for plane
  • Ear plugs for plane
  • V shaped boomerang pillow
  • Laptop for watching movies
  • Dry shampoo
  • Camera/GoPro
  • HDMI cord
  • Selfie stick (for all those post surgery selfies!)
  • Sarong

Helpful Pre Travel Tips

  • Contact your bank prior to travelling and let them know where you are going and what dates
  • Contact your phone service provider prior to travelling if you wish to put your mobile phone onto international roaming prior to travel
  • Ensure your travel insurance is completed

  • Be mindful of the overall weight of your bag as this can be hard to move and lift post surgery. Light packing also allows for more room in your bag for shopping after surgery!
