Endoscopic Breast Surgery

We have a select number of Plastic Surgeons in Thailand now offering our clients the option to undergo Endoscopic Breast Augmentation surgery. This modern surgical technique utilises an Endoscope and the Trans-axillary (arm pit) incision. Find out more about this procedure below!

What is an Endoscope?

An endoscope is a modern surgical instrument that consists of a long thin tube with a microscopic camera and a bright light attached. The endoscope is inserted into the patient and the footage from the tiny camera is then projected onto a large TV monitor. The footage shows a magnified image of what the camera can see inside the patient.

Endoscopic Breast Augmentation Surgery

Endoscopic surgery for Breast implants is a modern form of technology only offered by specialised Plastic Surgeons. This technique involves the surgeon making a small incision under the armpit, also called a Trans-axillary incision, to insert an endoscope allowing the surgeon to see inside the body’s internal structures and give greater precision and control. While watching the TV monitor and manipulating the endoscope, the surgeon can create a pocket for the implant to be placed either over or under the muscle or dual plane.

Advantages

  • Scar placement under the armpit rather than the breast fold (less visible)
  • Minimal scarring post surgery – just under an inch long
  • Faster recovery time
  • Less risk of infection
  • Decreased risk of capsular contracture
  • Ideal choice for patients with an indistinct or absent inframammary fold

Recovery and results

Recovery for endoscopic breast surgery is similar to traditional breast augmentation techniques. Arm movement will be limited in the initial stages of recovery and patients are less likely to experience nipple numbness and sensitivity.

Incision scar post Endoscopic Breast Surgery

Candidates with limited breast tissue are best suited to this technique as traditional breast augmentation surgery with incision under your breast fold, may result in a more visible scar.

You can discuss your eligibility for this surgery technique with your Plastic Surgeon as this will depend on your physical condition and desired outcome!
