Our FAQ's
| Here is where we have addressed the first 10 most popular questions asked on a regular basis. There are more that follow in More FAQ's. If there is a question that you would like to ask that is not addressed in our FAQ's, please feel free to contact us via our Online Enquiry Form or contact our office in Broadbeach direct by phone or email and we will be happy to address your questions or concerns. 1. How good are the hospitals? Our Preferred Hospitals are all considered excellent international (western) standard hospitals - more like 5 Star International Resort Hotels. And recognised as amongst the finest hospitals in the world. 2. How competent are the surgeons? All of the surgeons (at our hospitals) providing surgical cosmetic procedures are qualified, accredited Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. Not just "Cosmetic Surgeons". And as such, are required to complete a further 5 years of specialist training before they are admitted to the Thai Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (TSPRS). This is recognised by the International Society of Aesthetic and Plastic Surgeons (ISAPS) as the pre-requisite standards for its members from the USA, Australia, Britain, New Zealand, Canada and other Western countries. The bottom line for CosMediTour patients? Our Plastic Surgeons and other Specialists are as good as the "best" you will find in Australia, New Zealand and elsewhere. 3. How cheap are procedures? The main reason medical tourism has become such big business in Thailand, is the overall cost of the procedures can be as little as one third, one quarter to one tenth less of the price for the exact same procedure and treatment in Australia. Pioneers in the Thai Medical Industry recognised the potential for Thailand to become THE Asian destination for medical tourists close to 20 years ago, and set about establishing exceptional hospitals and a premier Health Care environment to attract health tourists from all over the world. 4. Why are prices so cheap? Prices are cheaper due to many factors - ranging from lower labour costs, much greater economies of scale with sophisticated hospitals and hundreds of specialists, competition among hospitals to attract medical tourists, the absence of a litigious consumer landscape, complicated administrative and government bureaucracies, and much greater and cost effective efficiencies where all consultations, pre and post procedure work is carried out through the same facility. 5. What safeguards and guarantees are there? Provided patients adopt and follow their pre and post procedure requirements set out by the hospital and specialist, and do not engage in activity that might compromise results and healing, then our hospitals and surgeons will undertake any additional followup surgery to address and rectify any problems, at no cost to the patient. "Make good" follow up work and procedures has been required in less than 2% of the patients on average in our hospitals. 6. What will flights and hotels cost? Flights and hotels costs will vary depending on, the time of year (seasons in Thailand), departure dates from Australia, duration at the hotels and resorts, the actual resort and accommodation type chosen, and the number in the travelling and accommodation group, (enquire about our Surgery Groups). However, as CosMediTour stakeholders are involved in the Thailand hospitality industry, we are able to secure fantastic prices for any CosMediTour patients and travelling companions and Surgery Groups. 7. How popular is Medical Tourism? Medical Travel has become so successful for its participating countries and medical providers, it has become the fasted growing segment of the global tourism industry. The combination of; world class hospitals, the finest surgeons and specialists, luxury yet affordable hotels and resorts - many in highly desirable recuperative locations and environments, huge savings on the same treatments back home, has proved to be a combination that is fuelling Thailand's continued pre-eminence as THE medical tourism destination of choice for Australians. 8. Are medical travel patients happy with their results? Despite a handful of so called "horror stories" and "botched jobs", no doubt due to bargain hunting patients seeking out even lower costs from back street clinics - the overwhelming number of hundreds of thousands of foreign medical tourists that come to Thailand now each year is proof of its success and popularity with patients and tourists. 9. How do I choose? Choosing the right hospital, clinic, specialist, procedure, accommodation, flights and all the other services required, can present a daunting challenge for even experienced travellers. This is where CosMediTour comes into its own, with a wealth of experience and our own personnel in Australia and Thailand, to help guide you through the maze. 10. Can you organise everything? Yes. At CosMediTour, we pride ourselves in being able to guide and assist you with the planning and booking of your proposed surgical holiday (medical tourism) - a getaway and makeover! |
